Starting from Dec 1986 until now, I have been involved in the industry of product design (design of ordinary gifts and paper products)
In all the painters and friends of my age, everyone has their own idea about painting. To me, painting is a challenge to the market and a challenge to the tastes of the readers.
I often feel that compared to cartoon, product design is at a disadvantage position because there is no story or life or meaning in product design. What you need to present is a feeling. Nor is it as elegant as illustration because what product design cares about is whether or not the product has been sold. So there isn’t as much literary flavor or value in product design as in illustration. It is because of this reason that product design represents the direct market, namely the price. If you like it, you buy it; if you don’t like it you rejected it. It is as simple as that. This is what attracted me to do product design.
