Wu was born on Feb 16, 1972 in Beidou township, Changhua County, Central Taiwan. He became interested in drawing as a child and was fascinated by comics and cartoon while at primary school, often drawing in his text book
After middle school graduation, his parents would not allow him to enter an art department. After high school graduation he entered a comic drawing competition for new artists held by Tongli Publishing Co but failed to win because his skills were still immature. However his potential was spotted by the boss of the publishing company and he became one of the first batch of artists nurtured by Tongli.
After completing military service he returned to Tongli Publishing and his maiden work was Kirin which written by Zhan Jeike. Later, his Oriental was serialized in Pingan magazine. After his seven year Tongli contract expired he went to work in computer games art.
The works of exude a feeling that no compromise can be made with the real world. We see characters who seem to be people but also seem to be piles of lifeless refuse. A rusting metal feeling emanates from the pictures, punctuated by a chaotic and contradictory air. His characters are all immersed in an atmosphere of approaching death and appear crazed.
