Taiwan Comic Digital Museum was planned by the Asia-Pacific Comic Association and accepted under the Council of Cultural Affairs cultural website establishing plan. In 2007 a TCDM implementing committee was established. In the first stage, the complete details of 110 Taiwan comic artists were collected. TCDM is the Taiwan’s only international website for national-level comic artists and has 5 language versions (Traditional Chinese, Simplified, English, Japanese and Korean), also a platform for comic artists to carry out public relations and exchange. At the push of a button comic news can be sent to 80 news bodies and comic associations and publishing companies and over 600,000 comic fans in 30 countries. Through this website Taiwan’s comic artists will be able to directly exchange with overseas comic fans and comic artists and overseas artists can also use the website for international exchange.
Establishing strategy:
(1) Collection function: When domestic and overseas bodies require Taiwan comic artist information they will receive complete information and records. (2) Creative function: Through on-line comic reading and non-commercial authorization, Taiwan comic authorization and creativity will be promoted. (3) Educational function: Establishing a comic teaching area for interested parties. Through the TCDM platform Taiwan and the whole world’s Taiwan comic researchers will have access to complete information. (4) Group function: Allowing comic lovers to carry out various applications and activities through TCDM
